Three weekends, Three trips

Hurricane Trip

We drove out to Hurricane to visit Grandma Batty and cousins!
We had a great time together!

Visiting the family property.
Look, cows!

The kids loved all the dirt everywhere.

These boys REALLY wanted to ride that tractor.

We played at a park. 
Caleb pretty much spent the entire time sitting in this "bug car."

"I'm so bored but I will never leave."

Napping in Grandma's basement was a little scary.
Caleb finally showed Mommy the monsters he was afraid of.
We introduced ourselves and now we are good friends.

The cotton is falling, the cotton is falling!

Wyoming Trip

Craig ran a half marathon with some friends

Stopping at a covered wagon for some lunch (and raspberry shakes) near Bear Lake.


The truck wasn't the roomiest vehicle to travel in.


But these kids didn't seem to mind.

When we got to where we were camping, we couldn't help but take a million pictures of this beautiful place.

This picture doesn't do it justice.

Crystal clear water.

A great opportunity to put the binoculars into action.

Great camping location for both humans and mosquitos.

Time for lunch.
The kids got to sit at their own table...counter.

Found a cool spot to camp the second night, just off the highway.

Walking up the hill, Carter found the bottom of a huge tree that had fallen over.

Make that two trees that fell together.

It's hard to see in this picture, but in the background there, there is a log that is the same shape as the little stick Carter is holding.
"And under that log was a stick, and I thought 'that log had a child!'" (Go watch "seagulls stop it now"!)

The kids decided to eat dinner IN the stream.

The second night we didn't bother with the tent.

The truck works pretty well to sleep two adults and two children.

More hiking!

Jackson Hole has a great rock climbing park.

Good job Jayden!

Carter conquered the wall in no time.

We finished our trip with dinner at Bar J Wranglers.

Delicious!

Goodbye friends!  We had a blast with you!

Caleb and Grammy had fun hanging out at Grams house while the rest of of camped.
"Sure you had camping and hiking, but did you get jelly beans?"

Back at Grammy's house, Carter set to work on making a treat-dispensing hat.

These two friends are about two years apart.
Now they are two feet apart too.

While everyone else went home to Vernal,
Jayden got to stay and hang out with Grammy and Aunt Roger. 
Spoiled.

Bowling!

This girl actually got an amazing strike.
And Grammy even caught it on video!

Caleb sometimes decides to pee in the potty and receive a potty candy.
Good job buddy.  Now you just need to decide to do it full time.

Farmville Trip

The kids stayed with Grammy while Craig & Paige flew to the east coast.

The drive into town was long, but we loved all the trees!

At our hotel.

Farmville, a two college town.
Which team will we root for?

Lots of cool looking churches around town.

So many trees and rivers and bridges.

We found a cool Amish furniture store.
Craig has some more growing to do before we can get him this chair.

We were in a furniture store when out of nowhere it started dumping rain outside.
Luckily, we had plenty of comfortable seating while we waited out the storm.

This is us in front of the hotel, the city building, the college, the library, the McDonald's, the gym, and the school.
Seriously, everything here is made of the same bricks.

The kids had a blast with Grammy.

And they made new friends at the park.

Caleb's new friend is the car, not the boy.

They did a good job helping Grammy with some chores too.

And she rewarded them well.

No trip is complete without a splash in the hot tub.

Carter practiced making things float with Grumpy.

Back in Virginia, we drove outside of Farmville to visit a neighboring city, Lynchburg.
More red bricks, and more trails and trees.

We thought this cobblestone road was cool.

But we are NOT crossing that giant snake!
[cringe]

Goofing off on a train track.

Farmville has a huge bridge called simply, The High Bridge.
It is half a mile long and as much as 125 feet tall at it's highest.

If you look closely, there is a deer way down there for a little perspective.

Are we almost to the other side yet? 
No. We are not.

On the way back home, Paige got super sick on the first flight.
Then we had to walk through the Atlanta airport on this wavy carpet.
The worst choice possible for us poor travelers who battle motion sickness!

On that same day, Caleb was home with Grammy feeling the same as mommy.
He threw up quite a few times throughout the day and poor Grammy was a champ and took good care of him.  Thank you Grammy!
