Maui Bound

Trip to Hawaii!
It was a beautiful, relaxing trip.
Here was where we pulled the car over when we came to this view.
This picture doesn't do it justice.

Our favorite part was the beach!

We spent every morning and evening on this beach.

We loved squishing our toes in the sand.

And we loved just watching the waves hit the rocks.

We also LOVED the sunsets!

So peaceful.

Playing with footprints.

Ahh!  So nice!

Look at those photography skills!

This was what our hotel lobby looked like.
Everything was open air.

Even the ends of the hallways just opened up to the outdoors.
It was so nice, although,
our first thought was that Hawaii must not have much of a crime problem!

The entry to the hotel was really nice too, especially at night.

One of the days, while Craig was at his morning classes,
Paige got to just sit and read with this view.

This statue in front of the building is of Maui pulling an island out of the ocean.

We also loved seeing all the unique plant life.
We spent a lot of time googling things.

Giant leaves!

Pretty flowers.

Pretty flowers in a pretty boy's hat.

We loved these big trees that lined a lot of the streets.
We found out they are called Monkeypods.

Bamboo!

Really cool tree tunnel.

Not sure if this is one tree or a family reunion.

We also enjoyed the wildlife.
There were a lot of wild chickens wandering around.
This one was hoping we'd share some of our lunch--
but we learned our lesson with the geese in Texas.

This Western Cattle Egret was hanging out on our car.
We thought he just wanted a ride, but he chickened out and flew away.

We found this really cool lizard.

Sea turtles!

Walked down to the beach for a little closer view.

This was the Road to Hana.
Very famous, very pretty,
but not recommended for those susceptible to car-sickness.

Although it led us to some cool adventures!
Is this really a trail?

Yeah it is!

It opened up a little.

This was us trying to remind ourselves which way to go on the way back to the car.

This trail continued on, but only if you could traverse this river.
Craig got pretty far, but we ended up calling it.

More waves!

This long pinecone came from these long pine trees.

Craig, you look so small!

This was a beautiful hike.

Heading up the misty mountain.

The fog at the top was really cool!
And wet.

This was a cool blowhole we found.

We woke up in the middle of the night and peeked out to see if we could see the moon.
It looked beautiful so we grabbed our shoes and walked down to the beach.
By the time we got down there, the moon was completely covered by clouds, and didn't come back out.

So we tried again the next night.
This picture doesn't look as good, but it was beautiful and stayed visible until it set.

Followed by a beautiful sunrise.

And the food was good too, just less documented.
This was a small banana cream pie.  Delicious!

This store made us laugh.
We should have gone in.

Time to go home.
Goodbye Hawaii.

Hello brown home.

We missed you!

These kids had plenty of fun without us.

Jayden even got to go horseback riding!

And she got a belated birthday gift.

So Caleb got to go horseback riding too.
Yee-haw little brother!

They took good care of each other.
